There is a wealth of wildlife on the estate, including all of the iconic Scottish species – see our section
Wildlife
for a taster. For fishermen, there are the 13 hill lochs, with wild brownies of up to 2lb or larger stocked rainbows for a real challenge, or the river Fechlin for fighting brownies in the pools. For the king of fish, you’ll have to take one of our boats onto Loch Ness itself for a good chance across in the mouth of the Moriston, or perhaps go a bit further for a chance on the Findhorn. The less energetic can walk out of the Lodge and catch a breakfast brownie in one of the 3 house lochans. Photographers will find endless subjects in the ever-changing light, from the red squirrels round the Lodge, to a stag on the hill, from a bright green spring birch to a new-England coloured Aspen in the autumn.
If you are really lucky, you might get a chance of a shot of the Northern Lights, as captured here by local photographer Russell Bain, who lives on the Estate. Dell House is lit up on the left.
